For anyone that knows me, it’s pretty evident that I love a cheap flight. I’ve been using these travel hacks for booking cheap flights for a while. I mean, I almost booked a flight to Bratislava the other day because it was a £20 return – who even travels to Bratislava? But, what’s great with cheap flights means that you not only save money, but you also get to see part of a country that not many people would necessarily go to.
So, these are my travel hacks for booking cheap flights.
Skyscanner IS YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND
If you are not fussy where in the world you want to go, download the Skyscanner app that compares all flights. Go to Explore and choose everywhere, it will find you the cheapest flights to all countries around the world. You are very welcome!
FLY ON CHEAP DAYS OF THE WEEK
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays usually have the cheapest flights, so flying on these days will bring the cost of the flight down. If it’s an awkward time, they tend to be cheaper as well. So plan your trips on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
CLEAR YOUR CACHE
Always clear your cache. When you’re looking at flights clearing your cache makes sure that the prices don’t keep going up every time you visit the website.
HAND LUGGAGE ONLY FLIGHTS
Most cheap airlines don’t include a large amount of luggage, so instead of paying the extortionate charges. Just roll up those clothes and take hand luggage on the plane. Although be careful as Ryanair has started charging £8 each way for hand luggage.
USE THOSE AIRMILES
That’s what they are there for, I don’t collect Airmiles, but I know plenty of people that save a fortune with them. It’s worth it if you are a regular flyer.
GET TO YOUR DREAM DESTINATION A DIFFERENT WAY
What I mean by this is to perhaps fly to a cheaper city and then catch public transport to the city in which you originally wanted to visit. This not only means you save the money on flights but also allows you to see more of the country. For example, want to do travel to Lisbon? Fly to Porto and catch the train. Simple!!
BOOK LAST MINUTE
You can get some great deals if you decide to book last minute, just be brave and bold! Last minute travel trips are spontaneous but don’t always rely on this method if you have one particular destination in mind.
