A Medieval town with an abundance of appeal and enchantment in the south of the Netherlands. Delft is popular for its old-fashioned canals, lively markets and traditional architecture. I’ve written down my favourite restaurants, hotels and shops in this quaint city.
Located just a short walk from the train station, you couldn’t ask for a better location. With views from the window overlooking one of the best canals, it’s not just a great price that this hotel has to offer. The staff are warm and friendly and the rooms are spacious and clean. This hotel also has a great seating area upstairs, delicious biscuits and hot drinks are readily available here and after 6pm a fruity drink is provided, which is wonderfully flavoursome.
Hotel Grand Canal is conveniently located closely to the main town of Delft and near to the shops and tourist hot spots.

COFFEE / BREAKFAST / LUNCH
Located not far from the Hotel Grand Canal this quirky coffee shop is exactly what I love about the Netherlands. It has great coffee, delicious food and fantastic industrial styled decor. I’m not a massive coffee drinker, but what I love about restaurants and coffee houses is the interior space. Koffee and Zo is an eclectic dream. What’s great is that most of the decor is for sale! In the morning whilst on your way to the market in the main square, grab the small breakfast for €5,95 whilst looking up at the VW bonnet of a car hanging from the wall. Everything is made fresh here and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I couldn’t recommend this place enough for coffee, breakfast and lunch.
Small Breakfast, €5,95: Coffee / Cappuccino / Tea / with fresh Orange juice and a Croissant.
Toasted Sandwich: Mozzarella, tomato, pesto & pine nut.
Sandwiches: 3 Slices of Crandberry bread with young cheese, old cheese and brie.

Wander the colourful market in Delft’s main square on a Thursday. The stalls host an assortment of clothes, fruit, vegetables and flowers. There are also a few food shops with sweets, delicacies and lots more. My particular favourite is the chip van, enjoy the chips the Dutch way with a big blob of mayonnaise.
Markt 87, 2611 GW
This sweet Italian restaurant is located not too far away from the main square. Under the duskfall sky wander down the quirky lane between two buildings and enjoy the dishes that are on offer. You can enjoy the delicious pizza’s in the comfort of the restaurant inside, or indulge in the Italian specialities outside under a provided blanket.

There are many lanes of shops in Delft which are full of sweets, fashion outlets and indulgent skin care businesses. My particular favourites are HEMA, Van Uffelen Mode and Milo Design Gifts. The streets I recommend for shopping would be; Markt street, Troelstralaan street and Brabantse Turfmarkt
