The Fault in our Stars

faultThis particular post is being dedicated to the very clever John Green, who is in fact the author of ‘Fault in our Stars’.  I’m writing this sat in the office listening to the song written by Ed Sheeran- All of the stars.

I first read the book before I watched the movie.  I was away volunteering in Uganda, when I first saw the book staring at me on the book shelf of a Backpackers hostel… My friend read it first, as I was still yet to finish my original book, and her being an English student read the book in a day! When my original book had finally been accomplished, I rose to the challenge to tackle this beautifully recommended book.  It took me two days! I was that hooked.. I fell in love with the main character Augustus, who was charming, intellectual and charismatic.

The book is about a cancer patient falling in love with an ex cancer patient… But it’s so much more!
However I felt that the book was more about the cancer and didn’t focus on the actual love story itself.  But after seeing the film at the cinema a few weeks later.. I was in love.  It was exactly like the book, just a few missed scenes and although the ending is evil! (Read/watch it and you’ll see what I mean).  The metaphors were linked perfectly and the love story was evoked beautifully.  Both my boyfriend and I were crying at the cinema in the end.

This is a ***** (5 star) film/book.. Take a chance and watch the film! The story telling is beautiful, you won’t be disappointed.
Let me know what you think, would love to hear from you!
