Since sixth form it seemed as though my weight had increased uncontrollably. Although I was only a size ten, I felt uncomfortable with my weight and felt unhealthy, unmotivated and often lethargic. My brain often felt blurry, I was constantly tired and increasingly cold. After visiting a nutritionist just a couple of months ago, who was recommended by my mum’s friend. I under went a journey of nutrition to become a healthier and more positive person.
I’m sat writing this whilst watching the great British bake off having just finished by gluten free pizza. The method at this particular nutritionist is a very holistic approach called kinesiology, which my friends often turn their nose up at. But “I’ll try anything once”.
During my first session I completed a list of symptoms and eating habits. From this we came to several conclusions that my body was out of balance. I won’t use the terminology she used because I have no idea how to pronounce it, let alone spell it. She then got me on a doctor’s bed and practiced her holistic method to find out what foods I can and can’t eat.
I found out that I have gluten, dairy and yeast intolerance, a sluggish liver and other problems. I have a new diet plan, which only includes a few foods and avoids gluten, dairy and yeast. From my first session I have slowly been able to introduce new foods and already feel a lot better. I have lost a total of nine pounds, with just the change in diet- no exercise what so ever.
I found it difficult at first to go out with friends and eat at different restaurants. But once I figured out the best gluten free restaurants, everything is so much better. My concentration is better, I no longer feel tired when I wake up, I feel motivated and healthy. I am more aware of what’s going into my body and take more notice of the nutritional values on foods. I drink loads of water and am slowly becoming more balanced with my nutrition. Going to a nutritionist has literally changed my life. I have never felt more positive inside and out.
